Capitol Cruisers Family Cookout Makes a Splash

The weather was hot. The food was delicious. The company was enjoyable. The swimming pool was delightful.

The Capitol Cruisers Family Cookout on Saturday August 28 was a “splashing” success. Around 15 Capitol Cruisers and their family members enjoyed the festivities at the beautiful home of Gaby and Bob Rudderow in Davidsonville, Maryland.

The hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, baked beans, pasta salad, fruit salad, potato chips, Good Humor ice cream, a Harley-Davidson cake, brownies, and more were delicious. Everyone left with a full stomach.

Many thanks to all who came and made this an enjoyable event. An extra thanks to Gaby for taking on the grilling duties, and to Gaby and Bob for inviting us to their beautiful home.

Where does the time go? It’s already back-to-school time and fall is not too far behind. In some ways, this time of the year can offer the best riding weather. The temperature tends to be a bit cooler and the humidity is less of a problem. Of course, the fall foliage is quite beautiful too.

In many ways, this is the time of the year to enjoy riding a motorcycle. The Capitol Cruisers plans to do just that! In addition to our regular monthly ride the third Saturday of each month, we will also be having a special overnight ride to Deep Creek Lake on October 2 and 3. That should be fabulous. Make sure you sign up now as space is limited and 10 of the 15 slots are taken.

Now is also the time to start to think of riding when the weather gets colder. The Capitol Cruisers is a four-season chapter, so we plan to continue having our monthly ride even when it gets cold. The only exception is when safety considerations dictate we stay off the road. Fortunately, there is a lot you can do to enjoy riding when the weather starts to turn. Many companies sell gear designed to keep you warm.
